The Strop Approach
Our methodology is anchored in StropSpine, a proprietary 12-step learning model.
Developed from decades of experience in the creative and design industry, this model focuses on honing key skills and behaviours needed to thrive in professional environments.
The StropSpine Model
The StropSpine is not a linear curriculum. Nor is it a design craft or tool teaching.
It is a structured progression of thinking and practice of skills that helps designers move from academic learning to real-world professional readiness.
Some of the modules the model brings together are:
- Immersion: Recalibrating design judgement through intentional exposure to high-quality work
- Reverse Analysis: Understanding outcomes by working backwards from real-world solutions
- Output → Outcome Shift: Training designers to focus on impact, not just deliverables
- No Canvas Thinking: Solving problems independent of format or tools
- Contextual Perfection: Delivering work that is right for the brief, audience, and business context
- Fog Light Principle: Developing abilities to bring in while dealing with ambiguity
Each module is designed to sharpen a specific capability, together forming a cohesive approach to professional design practice.
360° Learning
Design does not exist in isolation.
Our programs are designed to provide 360-degree exposure through:
- interactions with experienced design professionals
- conversations with industry leaders
- perspectives from India and global markets
This ensures that learning is not limited to the classroom but informed by real-world practice and diverse viewpoints.
Hybrid Learning Model
To balance depth and flexibility, Strop follows a hybrid course delivery approach:
- In-person sessions for immersive, high-engagement learning
- Online modules for continuity, reflection, and extended interaction
This combination allows for focused learning experiences while staying connected to ongoing practice.
What This Enables
Through this approach, designers are able to:
- think more clearly and independently
- understand real-world design expectations
- communicate and collaborate effectively
- contribute meaningfully from the outset
